Thats weird, in mine max works and maya doesnt. Did you set your theme to the solid one, forgot the name but I think is classic or something. I did that with mine cuz it keep crashing otherwise...

The problem is installing it. It keep telling me that I'm missing a .dll.

I had something similar with maya, I just google the missing dll install it and it worked. Maybe that helps...
